Outside New Mobotropolis, Freedom HQ, morning
Within minutes the enthusiasm amongst the Freedom Fighters over Emerl and his power died down, and their minds returned to the kidnapping of Knuckles and the Chaotix. "You said the Nocturnus Clan live in the Twilight Cage, didn't you, Julie-Su?" questioned Sally, while Sonic paced impatiently nearby, while Tails and Amy talked with Emerl and Bunnie and Antoine rested on the downstairs sofa, wiped out from their latest battle against the Phis. "Maybe instead of searching Angel Island we should go right into the den of the enemy," suggested Sally.
"But it's virtually impossible to access the Zone!" replied Julie-Su hopelessly, throwing her hands in the air and slumping into a chair. "Look, the Dark Legion spent years trying to escape from there, and the only reason we were ever able to was because of stolen Nocturnus technology. But the Nocturnus never followed us back through for some reason."
"That doesn't make any

"Yes, but..." Wes began.
"Silence!" Shade interrupted angrily. "What was your mission?"
"To capture and restrain Vivia-!"
Shade noticed a faint, pink blush on his muzzle. "I mean, Weapon V in order to infiltrate the Twilight Cage."
"Wes, your newfound feelings for Weapon V have gotten in the way of our objective!" Shade barked.
The orange-brown furred echidna bit back a possible lie. "Big brother..." Anca said with worry. "Is this true?"
He nodded his head, a visible blush on his face. He couldn't lie to his superior or his sister. He loved them too dearly to do that. "Sit back for this mission. I will capture her on my own," Shade commanded, patience with him having run out.
She stormed off and teleported to her destination. With them gone, Anca breathed a sigh of relief. Whe

This was certainly a surprise. She thought that she was the only Nocturne left on this planet.
Following another of Dr. Eggman's defeats, the group went their seperate ways. Shade decided to learn more about the dimension she was currently in and how it changed from times of old. She was hoping to get others of her kind out of the Twilight Cage and come here, wresting power from Ix and rebuilding the tribe into that of a peaceful one.
But it turns out there was a large group of Nocturnus echidnas trapped in this dimension. Apparently, their phase-shifting technology was disabled following their Lord's defeat, and she guessed that it was the Imperator's way of saying "look to your own defenses".
They needed a leader, she decided.
"We're awaiting orders, Procurator," a male echidna spoke up, bringing her out of her thoughts.
"Scavenge whatever technology you can find. We'll find a way to combine it with our own later," Shade commanded.

Egg Carrier, New Megaopolis airspace, morning
A massive sleek vessel circled across ravaged skyline of New Megaopolis, rain from the morning storm pounding on its hull. It was the only remaining ship from the Eggman Empire's former Egg Fleet, having been grounded and under repair while the rest of the ships were destroyed by an Enerjak. It was long, shaped like a fish, covered in a red and blue armor shell, and was lined with dozens upon dozens of cannons. One ship alone was enough to strike terror into the souls of most of Dr. Eggman's enemies, and when the fleet was whole it was a horrifying sight to behold.
Sitting in the captain's chair in the bridge was Dr. Eggman himself, his brow furrowed and his mouth a thin line. To his right was his nephew Snively and to his left was the main D.E.L. Grandmaster named Lien-Da. Both were fully expecting a speedy regrouping from New Megaopolis followed by a full-scale retaliation against the belligerent Nocturnus Clan, and in
